'09 CHAMPS

So 4th of July weekend we spent in the big, busy town of Rotan. They host an annual softball tournament for the locals and their families and/or friends. Each year seems to be bigger than the one before and this year was no exception, even through the rain. That's right, it rained almost all day both Friday & Saturday! It did make for cooler temperatures, but what it did to a girls hair was not a pretty sight. Thank goodness we were among friends and close to home. So anyhow, on to the tournament... The team Michael was on was made up of family and good friends. They played early Sat. morning and again later that afternoon, and won both games. Right after their second game (about 6pm) the rain started to come down hard, paired up with some lightning, the rest of the games and the display were cancelled until the next day. The games on Sunday were fast and muddy, from my point of view it looked like fun; running, sliding, and jumping through the mud and rain-but that's just me.
Here's the team right before the championship game...
daddy's ready for the ball...

go daddy! check out the mud below, it looked like a bunch of Scooby-do's out there, their legs moving but making no progress - funny story about one of the times Michael was up to bat-he was already in this position, ready for the ball, the pitch was thrown, and Madi runs up to the fence and yells "daddy!"-luckily he was able to keep his concentration...
